5/24/2011 - The AACE webinars page and news stories page are both updated. Jobs are being posted on the jobs board by AACE members. The forums page is open for any member questions or comments.
5/12/2011 - We've been adding a lot of functionality to the AACE web site this week. We've added an EVENTS CALENDAR so you can see all the members and association events in either list form or calendar view. We now have a FORUMS page which can be used to post questions and dialogue from AACE members. We've added a JOB BOARD for AACE members to post open vacancies of interest. We've locked the "members resources" area of the web site to members only. On the administrative side, we're now updating member data which will allow us to electronically invoice for dues, workshops and conference events as well as send out email blasts and other communications. Things are shaping up! Best Wishes, David

We elected a new AACE Board of Directors. I will be handing over the reigns of President to Heather Garcia in the next few weeks as my term comes to an end, and I look forward to serving you in the coming year as your Past President. Heather could use your help on standing committees, so if you would like to become more involved in serving the association please get in touch with her. I'm sure she would welcome your call. Heard on LinkedIn
9/9/2010 - The LinkedIn discussion board of Northwest Arkansas Recruiting Staffing Professionals has had some insightful comments regarding a reported trend of hiring managers putting out a persona non grata to any applicants who are unemployed. Seems to me you'd be doing yourself and your employer a disservice not to consider all applicants based on the skill sets needed for the specific position.
On the AACE LinkedIn discussion board, we welcome newcomers Vashon Broadnax of Philander Smith College, Michelle Strong of the U of A Fayetteville, Issa Abboud of the University of Pheonix , Heather Reese of DHS, and Carol Waddle of the Criminal Justice Institute. Go to our LinkedIn group page and get in on the discussion.
President's Corner
9/7/2010 - Hello Everyone! Summer is over, fall is just beginning, and AACE is in full swing with lots of new things on the horizon.
We held our first Board Meeting for the year on August 12 in Little Rock. Meeting accommodations were graciously provided by the Central Arkansas Library System. The big topic of discussion was our new marketing plan as noted below.
The career fair calendar is filling up, and recruiters have a lot to plan for in the coming months.
President-Elect Heather Garcia and the Conference Committee is busy planning the Winter Conference which will be held in Little Rock on December 17th hosted by Acxiom at their downtown River Market location. You can look forward to an interesting group of speakers slated for that event, so mark your calendars.
The Marketing Committee has completed the initial ground work on a new AACE marketing plan with Enlightened Marketing. Guided by Samantha Hartley, we met via conference call for an hour each week over the summer to flesh out the details for a new position statement, ways to get our message out, and web site revisions. You'll see a lot going on this year with new marketing materials, informal meet & greet regional meetings, and a new interactive web presence.
Here's our new positioning statement:
AACE is the only statewide professional association that provides businesses and career services professionals the opportunity to engage, connect and collaborate in order to place or find the talent they need quickly and economically.
AACE connects you with a supportive, friendly professional community, strengthens your network, provides access to innovative profession-specific tools and resources, and engages you in mentoring and leadership opportunities.
So, I think we have a good jump on the year. I ask all members to reach out to other professionals to join our association. the marketing Committee will be targeting specific "anchor" companies for membership, so if you have any contacts please pass them along to me, Stephen Shearman or Allison Nicholas.
I appreciate the trust you have given me as President of AACE. I look forward to a productive year ahead.
Best Wishes,
David Flake, AACE President
